Strife's The Race to Level 70 banner.

The live service MOBA Strife, which began its open beta in August 2014, ran a worldwide competition called The Race to Level 70, where the first person to reach account level 70, the game's level cap, would win a free trip to the developer's studio. A Filipino player named "WG King" won the event.

At that time, Strife was marketed in the Philippines under Level Up!.

In August 2014, Strife's game developer and publisher, S2 Games, announced that it would be running a grinding event called "The Race to Level 70" at the start of its open beta, which began on August 29, 2014. The first person to reach account level 70 would win the following:^[1]

• A 3-day trip to S2 Games' studio in Kalamazoo, Michigan in the United States, which includes:
• Round-trip coach air transportation for the winner arranged by S2
• A double occupancy single room at the Courtyard by Marriott in Portage, Michigan
• A Per-Diem of US$150.00
• A copy of the Darkstone Edition of Strife signed by the game's staff
• An exclusive account icon

The winner of the competition was a Filipino player named WG King (real name Alvin Rillera). He achieved level 70 on October 4, 2014, over a month since the open beta started. On that same day, Strife's Philippine product manager, Gian Adriano, visited WG King at the Wargods Gaming Arena at Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong City, to congratulate him.

Less than a week after the achievement, S2 Chief Operating Officer Scott Valencia visited the Philippines to congratulate him personally. During the meeting, they discussed the possibility of providing an alternative prize to the difficulty of securing a U.S. visa in the country.^[2]

WG King opted for the alternative prize, which was a US$1,000 cash prize and an Apple iPhone 5s.^[3]
