About

Launch and operations

A Philippine server was originally published by Level Up!. On May 24, 2005, Level Up! announced the acquisition of RF Online. The game's website launched on June 14, 2005. The game went into open beta on November 18, 2005. It was launched commercially on January 10, 2006.[1]

The game was originally on a pay-to-play subscription model, with more expensive subscription rates than Level Up!'s first MMORPG, Ragnarok Online. However, on August 28, 2007, the game went free-to-play together with the arrival of Episode 2 - Giga 1: Pioneers of Novus.[2]

On April 24, 2009, Level Up! released the 2.2.3 patch for RF Online, known as Novus Rising. It features the blue and gold MAU for Bellato, the Gold Isis for Cora, and the Black and Blue Siege Kits for Accretia. It also features the release of a new map, Elven Continent.

Closure

The game was closed down on June 25, 2013, a year after Level Up!'s merge with competing publisher E-Games. It is unknown if the merge affected the game's operations. No reason was stated for its closure. Players were encouraged to migrate to either E-Games' MMORPGs CABAL Online or RAN Online.

Music

Various Filipino music artists performed four original songs based on RF Online. "Empire Accretia" by Razorback, "Birthright" by Loquy, and "Battlecry" by Greyhoundz were released in the 2007 music album Level Up! The Album. "Novus is Burning" by Wolfgang was released in the 2008 music album Live! The Album: Music of the Level Up! Nation.
