About

Background

The Philippine live service game publisher Level Up! Inc., which operated the gaming portal Level Up!, was originally owned by Level Up! International Holdings Pte. Ltd. (LUIH). In 2006, ePLDT, Inc. acquired a majority stake in Level Up! Inc.

As Playweb Games: 2011-2014

On July 11, 2011, ePLDT sold its entire interest in Level Up! Inc. On September 1, 2011, Level Up! Inc. announced that LUIH had re-acquired its ownership shares from ePLDT and that Level Up! Inc., effective that day, would sub-license all of its games to a newly established publishing company Playweb Games Inc.[1] Playweb Games was a separate corporate entity from Level Up! Inc. and acted as a publishing proxy, although its operations were mainly unchanged from ePLDT's ownership. There were no public announcements regarding the reasons for Playweb Games' creation.

In 2012, when Level Up! was merged with E-Games, an undisclosed commercial interest amount in Playweb Games was given to IP E-Game Ventures, Inc.

Asiasoft and PlayPark: 2012 onwards

In 2012, Thailand-based tech holdings company Asiasoft Corporation, through its Singaporean publishing subsidiary Asiasoft Online Pte. Ltd., announced that it was planning to enter the Philippine live service gaming market.[2]

In 2014, Asiasoft Corporation acquired both Level Up! Inc. and Playweb Games Inc. Playweb Games was re-established as PlayPark Inc. to manage the operations of the PlayPark portal in the Philippines.
