International Ragnarok Online 2

International Ragnarok Online 2, also known as iRO2, is an international service of Ragnarok II: Advent of Valkyrie published by American publisher Gravity Interactive, Inc. on its WarpPortal brand since 2013. It is currently the only official service for the game.

As of 2025, iRO 2 remains in service, although it receives no more updates or events and has a non-existent population.

About

Prior to Philippine market

iRO2 was launched on May 1, 2013. Philippine players were blocked from accessing the service, as the publishing rights for the country were held by Level Up! Inc. (Level Up!). A separate Ragnarok Online 2 SEA service was also published by Asiasoft under PlayPark since 2013. Philippine players were also unable to access it.

Sometime in 2014, the game's developer, Gravity Co. Ltd., deemed Ragnarok Online 2 to be a failure and had begun terminating licenses with regional publishers to avoid further losses. Level Up! Inc.'s Philippine license was terminated in April 2014,[doc 1] thus allowing Gravity Interactive to include the Philippines in the list of serviced countries by iRO2.

Philippine and SEA server

On June 10, 2014, the official Ragnarok Online 2 Philippines Facebook page was created. It began marketing iRO2 towards the Philippine market, and the access restriction for the game was lifted for the country. A new server called "Odin" was launched on July 31, 2014, to cater to Filipino players.[1][note 1] The game's marketing team also performed game installation service requests for cybercafés in select cities in Luzon.[2]

In September 2014, the Ragnarok Online 2 SEA service under PlayPark was terminated. The SEA accounts were migrated to the Odin server.[3]

Dwindling players

The game was unpopular and suffered a low population count. The Ragnarok Online 2 Philippine Facebook page was abandoned on June 19, 2015, and its remaining players were encouraged to migrate to the main Ragnarok Online 2 Facebook page.[4] The page would remain abandoned until 2018, when it became active again to post news of an upcoming Philippine Ragnarok Online 2 service.

iRO2 still remains in service as of 2025.

Note

  1. Any iRO2 player could access the Odin server. It's not exclusive to Filipino gamers.
