WarRock is a free-to-play live service FPS developed by South Korean developer Dream Execution for Microsoft Windows. It is published globally by Singaporean publisher Vertigo Games International Pte. Ltd. on its Papaya Play portal.

The game was originally published by Amped in the Philippines, and was transferred to Massive Gaming after Amped closed down. It was later migrated to Leadhope Digital Inc. after Massive Gaming ceased to operate.

About

Unlike most live service FPS which try to imitate Valve's Counter-Strike or Activision's modern Call of Duty series, WarRock is inspired by DICE's Battlefield series. However, its competitive scene revolves around the "Explosive" game mode: a smaller-scale, no vehicles mode that is similar to the defusal mode of Counter-Strike.

History

Under Amped

The game was commercially launched in the Philippines during the Amped Fest 2007 event on September 1 and 2, 2007 at the TriNoma Mall Activity Center in Quezon City.

After Amped was closed down in 2013, players were migrated to the new Philippine live service publisher Massive Gaming.[1]

Under Massive Gaming

In March 2015, Massive Gaming was accused of alleged fraud by its former employees. It resulted in backlash and the publisher's impending closure led to Massive Gaming transferring player accounts to another Philippine live service publisher, Leadhope Digital.

Similar to Massive Gaming's other games at the time of its closure, it was revealed that the company was not paying the required royalty shares to its developer, Dream Execution.

Music

When the game was still under Amped, the song "Bakbakan Na" by Filipino band Kala was designated as the game's official theme song.
