South Korean visa denial for Philippine StarCraft 2 representative EnDerr at the World Cyber Games 2011

In December 2011, the Philippine StarCraft 2 representative for the World Cyber Games (WCG) 2011 tournament in South Korea, Caviar Napoleon "EnDerr" Acampado, was denied visa by the South Korean embassy for undisclosed reasons. This resulted in him forfeiting all of his matches at the event.

Similar to EnDerr, two of the League of Legends Philippine representatives for WCG 2011 were also denied South Korean visas.

Background

On October 30, 2011, the World Cyber Games (WCG) 2011 Philippine Finals for StarCraft 2 was held during the Pinoy Gaming Festival 2011 in SM City North EDSA Cyberzone in Quezon City. Caviar "EnDerr" Acampado took first place in the event, beating Paolo "JaBiTo" Javier and Paolo "Pobbes" Poblador in second and third place, respectively.[1]

EnDerr, who was under Mineski's pro team, was set to represent the country in the World Cyber Games 2011, which was scheduled to begin on December 8, 2011 in Busan, South Korea. He was also set for Samsung's WCG supermatch against Fnatic's Yoan "ToD" Merlo from France.

About

On December 8, 2011, Mineski.net announced that both Enderr and WCG SC2 Philippine Team Leader, Marlon Marcelo, were denied visas by the South Korean embassy for undisclosed reasons. Marcelo stated that the team completed the visa requirements weeks before the event, which included letters from the WCG committee and the city of Busan.

The decision was not reversed, and EnDerr was forced to foreit all his matches at the event, including the supermatch.[2]
