Enderr's Visa Denied by KR Embassy

Mineski would like to announce to the public, to the Philippine StarCraft community and fans of Enderr that the visa applications of World Cyber Games (WCG) SC2 Philippine representative, Caviar Napoleon "Enderr" Acampado, and team leader, Marlon Marcelo, were denied by the Korean embassy.

Despite efforts made by Mineski and WCG to ensure the participation of Enderr in this year's WCG Grand Finals at South Korea, the Korean embassy denied the visa applications with reasons the embassy did not disclose. As a result, all matches of the Philippine representative had to be forfeited. The WCG Supermatch of Enderr against Fnatic's Yoan "ToD" Merlo of France will also be forfeited.

Enderr won the WCG National Finals last October 30, 2011 in the Pinoy Gaming Festival (PGF) to gain the right to compete and represent Philippines in the WCG Grand Finals at Busan, South Korea this December 8-11, 2011. Enderr also received enough votes to make him qualify for Samsung's WCG Supermatch. However, due to the denial of his visa application, Enderr will not be able to take his flight and participate in both events.

The following is a statement from PGF Director and WCG SC2 PH Team Leader, Marlon Marcelo:

---

This is so disappointing, to think that we did everything to secure a visa for WCG 2011 only to be denied in the end. I missed SMM 2011 this year because my passport was still in the embassy then this happened. I will gladly accept the Korean embassy's decision not to let me fly on the event, however to deny Enderr's application is preposterous and very very absurd. I firmly believe that a Philippine WCG representative, regardless of financial standing or background should be given considerations especially for this once-in-a-lifetime event. For a country such as Korea whom, we look up to in terms of their e-sports success I still can't believe they did deny Enderr's application, this guy is not a DotA or CS player. He's a Star Craft player! This is their favorite e-sports game! Oh my goodness what irony!

I would like to apologize to Enderr and to the SC2 community here in PH. This is supposed to be your big break and we missed it. Maybe it's time we have someone from the PH government help us for these kinds of cases. I would also like to thank the WCG head organizing committee for extending all the help we can have for the visa process.

FYI: We did apply with complete requirements weeks before the event. We even have a letter from WCG and from the city of Busan to help us in the process. We even have our flight details booked already. When we learned of the non-issuance of our visa we tried for an appeal, even WCG called the embassy but it was in vain.

Enderr is the current number 1 StarCraft 2 player in the Philippines and the current TheGamesXpo SC2 Regional champion. He also won 4th place in the recent international tournament, Dox Cup 2. He is also scheduled to compete this Friday in the top 8 round of the Intel Extreme Masters Global Challenge Kiev SEA qualifiers.
