OZ World Philippines

OZ World Philippines was an official service for social MMORPG OZ World: 3D Chat Game. It was published in the Philippines by Level Up! Inc. on its Level Up! portal from 2003 until 2010. The game is no longer in service in the Philippines.
The game had its soft launch in late 2002 as Level Up!'s first published title and was released commercially on January 25, 2003. It is the first commercial live service game that was published in the Philippines.
The game was originally a subscription-based game.
About
Level Up! Inc. (LUI) conducted months of market research and focus groups before choosing its first live service game to publish in the Philippines in 2002. It chose OZ World because it was easier to learn, and it had low system requirements, both in the PC specifications and its ability to work with dial-up internet.[1] Level Up! deemed it was better to start with a simpler game in the market before introducing a more complicated and challenging title like Ragnarok Online.[2] OZ World began its beta in November 2002.
LUI spent seven months and ₱65 million before commercially launching the game on January 31, 2003. By April 2003, the game had at least 4,500 registered players. Most of its players played in internet cafés, with an average age of 14 to 21. The game, which primarily targets a female audience, was also popular among male gamers.[2] LUI projected to have its number of players increase to 20,000 by the end of the year. However, OZ World ended up competing with Level Up!'s much more popular second game, Ragnarok Online, which was released months later.
The game's popularity declined after more live service games were introduced into the market. Some time in 2010, the service was shut down, ending its eight-year lifespan.
Subscription model
The game originally used a subscription-based business model. It originally cost ₱50 for four hours of game time, ₱100 for 7 days of unlimited game time, and ₱350 for a month of unlimited game time.
Music
"Burnout", a song performed by the Filipino band Sugarfree, was used to promote this game.
