Goddess of Victory: NIKKE commemorated its half-anniversary milestone in an incredibly fitting way: a themed maid cafe!

The first ever NIKKE-themed cafe event in the Philippines happened on the weekend of May 20-21, 2023, at the Wiltlover Cafe in Ayala Malls Circuit, Makati. Upon entering, the welcoming cast of maids, dressed as various characters from the mobile shooter game, of course, greeted the guests (or “Masters,” as the maids referred to us) and led us to our seats.

Wiltlover Cafe was by no means massive, but the limited headcount of the event made sure that the guests had a comfortable experience. Every square inch of the cafe was transformed for maximum immersion, with various NIKKE knick-knacks decorating the tables and shelves of the small cafe and a special menu for the event. All-in-all, the ticket entitled us to a short session and a complimentary drink of our choice.

The first half of the hour-long experience was just enough to chat with fellow NIKKE fans and players, get accustomed to the atmosphere of the cafe, and mingle with the maids. The session ramped up during the latter half with short programs, including a photo op with the guest cosplayers and a raffle event.

The event was organized by EXOSIA Project in partnership with NIKKE Philippines, Level Infinite, and Wiltlover Cafe Makati.

EXOSIA Project founder Nico “NicDroid” Guarte called the event a resounding success. “To our surprise, we got well-received by the community and even exceeded their expectations of an ordinary NIKKE-themed maid cafe,” said Guarte. “They enjoyed the ambiance, food and drinks, the NIKKE Maids, and guests on the venue that enhanced the immersion inside the event.”

If you missed this event, don’t worry! According to Guarte, more of these events are definitely on the table for them with the continued support of industry partners, and the community should keep an eye out for more, and better, surprises.

The loosening of COVID-related restrictions has seen the return of many in-person gaming events, ranging from LAN events to more intimate occasions such as this one. It’s great news for fans of more “casual” gaming – being provided a space to enjoy their hobbies and share them with other like-minded people. The comeback of conventions and on-site events after the big gaming boom that happened over the quarantine is satisfying, knowing that gaming communities can now go beyond Facebook groups and Discord servers.
