gPotato's reason for Luna Online's closure

I know this topic is a bit old, but unfortunately, that will not happen because Luna is still owned by EYA Interactive. The company never officially shut down, but they essentially went dark. As far as I can tell, they still retain full ownership of the IP, which means they are the ones in charge of selecting publishers for the game.

I worked for gPotato for 6 years until the closure of Luna Plus in 2012. At the time, EYA Interactive had already shifted its focus to a new project, which unfortunately ended up getting canceled. We were left on our own, and since we were just the publishers, we had no access to the tools necessary to properly improve the game or fix bugs. All bug reports had to be sent to EYA, and we had to wait for their confirmation and delivery of patches. Eventually, we learned about Luna Plus's fate roughly three months before its closure. We quietly kept things running until the end, knowing there was nothing more we could do — the game was broken beyond belief. Only the Korean version was more polished and had any meaningful advancements.

Sadly, the game is just too old, and the remaining audience is far too small to justify keeping servers running. Without EYA's green light, no one can simply implement microtransactions or run the game commercially without risking legal trouble. Unless a new publisher outright buys the IP or EYA decides to transfer it, Luna will likely remain in this limbo.
