IP e-Game Ventures Inc and X-Play Online Games Inc announced on July 8 the limited commercial launch in the Philippines of Point Blank, a Massive Multiplayer Online First Person Shooter (MMOFPS) game that boasts the challenge of a multiplayer game and the excitement of an FPS. Point Blank takes off from Counter-Strike, one of the best tactical FPS games in recent years. Developed by Zepetto in South Korea, the game's i-Cube engine promises a rich interactive experience, with destructible elements like cars and windows that make strategic thinking an important part of the gameplay.

Game play

Point Blank currently has 8 game modes, 8 playable characters, 200 weapons and 40 stages. A new Dinosaur mode (Head Hunter) is also planned for release soon. Leveling up gives Point Blank a distinctive RPG experience: the more you play, the better your character will become. The game's producers also promise a non-stop stream of updates and patches to keep gamers challenged.

Phenomenal reception

Enrique Y. Gonzalez, President and Chief Executive officer of IP e-Games says that the success of Point Blank in the Philippines has been phenomenal. "The response from gamers has been overwhelming. Point Blank already ranks amongst the top 5 games in the Country in terms of concurrent users, and has become the number 1 First Person Shooter in terms of concurrent users. We are committed to the long-term success of Point Blank in the Philippines," he said at the launch, which was held at the Hexagon Lounge at RCBC Plaza in Makati City. Ron Aquino, X-Play's chief operations officer, added: "Point Blank's spectacular rise from near obscurity to the most sought after online game today, is a testament to how good the game is. It's fun, exciting, and fast paced action will definitely satisfy gamers' need for a thrilling FPS game". More details about Point Blank can be found at http://www.pointblankph.com. — TJD, GMA News
