TNC CS: GO Pro Team's disqualification on GOTV.GG Invitational #1

In December 2017, the Filipino team TNC Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Pro Team was accused of cheating in an online match and was disqualified from the GOTV. GG Invitation #1. The controversial decision was based on a match against the Vietnamese team 24BHB.

Background

The GOTV.GG Invitational #1 was a small promotional tournament by GOTV.GG for Southeast Asian teams. It had a prize pool of US$2,500 and ran from December 18 until December 27, 2017. TNC's CS: GO team participated in the tournament.

The match between TNC Pro Team and 24BHB occurred on December 21, 2017.[1]

About

During the last matches of the group stages, TNC Pro Team faced the Vietnamese team 24BHB in a best-of-three. The winner of the series would determine which team would proceed to the playoffs.

The series lasted the entire three maps, and TNC won 2-1 against 24BHB. However, the organization accused TNC of cheating and disqualified it from the tournament. TNC was sent four video clips recorded from the third match's demo (replay) as proof of alleged cheating.

TNC responded on its Facebook page, stating that "[GOTV] accused us of cheating but TNC CSGO Pro Team will not tolerate such act since all our players have gone through rigorous training plus the fact that we are carrying the name of a reputable team/company in the gaming industry."[2]

The decision was final, and 24BHB proceeded to the playoffs.

No Filipino players nor teams have participated in both GOTV. GG Invitational #2 and #3 in 2018.
