Sony PlayStation 4

The Sony PlayStation 4 (PS4) is a video game console developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment as part of the PlayStation line of consoles. It was first released in North America on November 15, 2013, and was launched in the Philippines on January 14, 2014.

The add-on hardware PlayStation VR was launched in the Philippines on October 13, 2016.

The PS4 was preceded by the PS3 in 2010 and was followed by the PS5 in 2020.

PlayStation 4 launch

The PlayStation 4 was launched in the Philippines on January 14, 2014. A Philippine launch roadshow was held on January 14 and 15, 2014, at the Glorietta Activity Center in Makati City.[1] The launch was a month earlier than Japan's release on February 22, 2014.

Console bundles were available at the following prices:[2]

  • Base package (500GB HDD) - ₱24,999
  • With PS Camera - ₱26,999
  • With Killzone: Shadow Fall - ₱26,899
  • With Battlefield 4 - ₱27,399

Additional hardware at launch:

  • PS4 Dualshock controller - ₱3,399
  • PS Vita 2000 - ₱11,999

The head-mounted display HMZ-T3W was also showcased and priced at ₱49,999. This hardware was made available for sale in later months.[3]

PlayStation VR launch

The add-on device PlayStation VR was launched in Asia, including the Philippines, on October 13, 2016. The PS Camera is required for the PS VR to function.

Pre-orders were available beginning July 30, 2016, with the following bundle prices:

  • PS VR (unit only) - ₱22,900
  • PS VR with PS Camera - ₱25,290

PlayStation Network

The option to select the Philippines as the country for a PlayStation Network account was not available throughout the PS4's lifespan.
