Animal Town is a free-to-play casual town-building game developed by ThinkBIT Solutions in partnership with various environmental agencies in the Philippines. It was released on March 8, 2024 for the iOS and Android.

The game is supported by ads and microtransactions. The income generated is used for conservation efforts in the Philippines.

Development

Animal Town was first conceptualized in 2019. The game was developed by the Biodiversity Finance Initiative (BIOFIN) of the United Nations Development Programme, Department of Environment and Natural Resources Biodiversity Management Bureau (DENR-BMB), Forest Foundation Philippines (FFP), ThinkBIT Solutions, Inc., and supported by the government of the United Kingdom.[1]

According to Annabelle Plantilla, country manager of DENR-UNDP BIOFIN Philippines, Animal Town is used to test if free-to-play games can serve as a viable source for conservation funds. The revenues for the game are managed by FFP and are used for conservation programs selected by the DENR-BMB.[2]
