Supreme Destiny Holds First Global Tournament
Corporate/Events | Just Announced
Mon 18 Feb 2008

IP e-Games, the local online gaming subsidiary of listed company IPVG Corp. (PSE: IP), announces the participation of Supreme Destiny (SD), its classic medieval MassiveMultiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG), to the World Championship League (WCL) tournament this month.

Organized by With Your Destiny (WYD) Global, the said tournament aims to gather the best players of the game from various countries such as Japan, China, Philippines, Brazil and Korea. Twenty six of the most skilled SD gamers will battle it out using the Kingdom Wars system, in which their main objective is to kill the leader of the other team under time constraints.

Representatives of Team Philippines were chosen based on their performance and rank in e-Games ground events, tournament wins in-game, character levels and player votes. These gamers came from various areas in Metro Manila such as Pasig, Quezon City, Cavite, Valenzuela, Laguna, Marikina, Rizal, and even from Cebu. Unlike other tournaments, the gamers will compete against other teams by logging on to the WCL main server at specific dates and time per match while remaining in the comforts of their respective home countries.

The first match will commence on February 16, with Brazil and Korea leading the first fight. The Philippine Team will be pitted against Japan on February 20. i-Hooked Internet Café in Katipunan, Quezon City will serve as the hub where the participants will log on to the servers to compete in-game.

“e-Games is giving its full support to Team Philippines in this tournament. We’ve been planning things out in terms of beefing up the strength of our team by organizing online training camps. We are likewise planning strategies that the team can use in their matches. I-Hooked Katipunan will serve as Team PH’s headquarters for the duration of the tournament,” remarks SD Product Manager, Sonny Carlos.

IP e-Games Group Product Manager for MMORPGs, Heidi Mendita also expresses confidence of the team’s capabilities. “The WCL is a much-awaited event for our SD gamers as this is the first biggest worldwide tournament for the game. We’ve chosen the best members for the Philippine team and we are confident that our representatives will dish out a good fight against other participants.”

As the first major tournament for SD/WYD, players stand a chance to win a total of US$ 10,000 (over Php 400,000) in cash prizes and other rare in-game items. The World Championship League has been conceptualized in order to foster a deeper sense of community not just for its local gamers, but to bring together its players from different countries. Since November 2007, other participating nations have been conducting their preliminaries to select their 26-man team. Korea plays the host nation for this pioneering tournament.

WCL is just but one of the big things to come for SD Philippines. “We can expect a bigger, better and more dynamic game from our developers and this includes more functionalities and challenging quests. This will be the start of SD being in the map of the gaming market given its promising potential,” enthuses Ed Pasion, VP for Marketing for IP e-Games
